Week 2 – Jeff Maness – June 10th, 2018
Jesus didn’t tell us exactly when He would return, just that He would. He even seemed to imply that it would happen “soon”. He did that for a specific reason, so that we would seek to be ready at any time. Knowing when Christ will return is not as important as being ready for His return.
End Of The World – Return of Christ
Matthew 24:6
John 14:1-3 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Matthew 24:25 See, I have warned you about this ahead of time. 6 And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. For the first picture, I’ll say “I was driving North on Warren Ave here in town, I pull up by the airport and THIS caught my eye.” On “this” I’ll point to the screens for the picture.
Matthew 24:44 You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.
When Christ returns is not as important as being ready for His return.
Big Question: What should I know to be ready for His return? (Part 1) Main Scripture: Matthew 24:23-35

Matthew 24:23-29a 23 “Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah,’ or ‘There he is,’ don’t believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones. 25 See, I have warned you about this ahead of time. 26 “So if someone tells you, ‘Look, the Messiah is out in the desert,’ don’t bother to go and look. Or, ‘Look, he is hiding here,’ don’t believe it! 27 For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes. 28 Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near. (say a few words) 29 “Immediately after the anguish of those days…
Matthew 24:29-30 29 “Immediately after the anguish of those days the sun will be darkened, the moon will give no light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. 30 And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
1. Everyone will see Him
Matthew 24:31 31 And he will send out his angels with the mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather his chosen ones from all over the world — from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.
2. The trumpet will sound
3. The believers will be saved Preach
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 51 But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! 52 It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 13 And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. 15 We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. 17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18 So encourage each other with these words.
