Week 3 – Jeff Maness – May 5, 2019
Believing in Jesus won’t remove loss from our life, but it does remind us of what we have in the midst of it. Everyone goes through seasons of loss. What do we have in the midst of it?
Even So: Loss
John 16:33 33 “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
Big Idea: Believing in Jesus won’t remove loss from our life, but it does remind us of what we have in the midst of it.
Big Question: What do I have in the midst of loss?
Main Scripture: Lamentations 3:18-26
Lamentations 3:18-19 18 I cry out, “My splendor is gone! Everything I had hoped for from the LORD is lost! 19 The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words.”
Lamentations 3:20 20 I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss.
1. The freedom to grieve
John 11:35 35 Then Jesus wept.
Romans 12:15 15 Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.
Lamentations 3:21-23 21 Yet (Even so) I still dare to hope when I remember this: 22 The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. 23 Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.
2. The faithful love of God
Lamentations 3:24 24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”
Lamentations 3:25 25 The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.
Lamentations 3:26 26 So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.
3. The promise of a future good
